1. What is Bim Details?

Bim Details is a free online resource providing CAD and Revit details for architects, engineers, and contractors. Our goal is to streamline design workflows by offering high-quality, industry-standard templates and models.

2. Is Bim Details really free to use?

Yes. All of our Revit and CAD downloads are free for industry professionals. We are supported through sponsorships and advertising from manufacturers.

3. Do I need to create an account to download files?

Yes, registration is required. Easy to sign up!

4. Can I use Bim Details content on my commercial projects?

Yes. Our content is provided for use in professional design projects. However, redistribution or reselling of our content is prohibited.

5. Are your Revit families compatible with all versions of Revit?

We typically support Revit 2020 and newer. Please check each file description for version compatibility.

6. Do the details follow any sort of standards? 

Yes, they are formatted in several ways: 

1. Font is Arial, and text sizes are 1/8″ in height. 
2. Dimensions of details (height and width) are all the same.  This allows multiple details to be placed in all sized title blocks while maintaining a consistent and uniform layout. 
3.  Each detail includes a designated area for structural connection details.  Users can add a connection detail or delete it based on the users needs. 

6. Can I request a specific Revit or CAD detail?

Absolutely. We welcome suggestions and will do our best to add high-demand content in future updates. Use our Request a Detail form to submit.

7. How can I advertise my product on Bim Details?

8. What are the terms of use for your content?

Our content is licensed for professional design use only.  Refer to our Terms & Conditions.

While we strive for accuracy, all users are responsible for ensuring that our details meet local codes and project-specific requirements.

11. What if a Revit family or CAD file doesn’t work correctly?

Please notify us through our Report an Issue form. We regularly update and improve our files based on feedback.

12. Do you provide BIM content for MEP systems?

Yes, we are expanding our library to include mechanical, electrical, and plumbing Revit families and CAD.

13 How frequently is your content updated?

We update our library on a continuing basis and prioritize requests from the AEC community.

14. Do you offer tutorials or guides?

Yes, we provide how-to guides and video tutorials to help you implement the content into your projects.

15. How can I contribute to Bim Details?

Professionals can contribute by submitting original content or adding review comments to a detail product.

16. Can I integrate Bim Details content into my firm’s BIM standards?

Yes, our content is formatted for easy integration into your office standards, subject to our usage terms.
