What buyers need to know

In November 2020, the U.S. Department of Justice filed a lawsuit and immediate settlement with NAR (withdrawn July 1, 2021) related to Buyers agents' commission.(Case No.1:20-cv-3356) The agreement included:

The amount of compensation offered to Buyers'agents will made publicly available

Buyers'agents will have the obligation to disclose the compensations to their clients and cannot represent their services as free to buyers.

Agents must provide buyers all properties that fit their criteria regardless of compensations offered

Licensed agents will have acess to lock boxes of properties irrespective if they are members of the local MLS or not.
